We KICK OFF with a Denmark premiere on Bananas! and open the festival with the documentary Videocracy, about media and politics in Berlusconi’s Italy.

Law drama on bananas
One week before to the festival’s official opening we are proud to warm up with the film Bananas! The film documents a young lawyer’s lawsuit against Dole Food on behalf of Nicaraguan banana workers, who have been exposed to lethal pesticides. After the film’s opening at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Dole sued the producer. But just before going to court, they withdrew the case.

The Italian ’videocracy’
The festival opens with a screening of the Swedish/Danish Videocracy, which examines Silvio Berlusconi’s succes in transforming the mass media to a strong political tool. How can anyone enhance his political power by presenting half naked women and reality-shows?
