African underground-rappers in Aarhus
Hip hop youth and politics have become inseparable in Senegal. This documentary follows rappers, DJ’s, journalists and people on the street of Dakar during the controversial presidential election in 2007. Originally released as a seven-part mini-series on the Internet, the film bridges the gap between hip hop acitivism, video journalism and documentary film and explores the role of youth and underground music on the political process.
Following the screening the night will be dedicated to a live performance by several of the artists taking part in the film as well as Danish Zeitgeist. Dig in and word up!
